OpenSTAR Appointed as Official Distributor for Ten Global Private Fund Houses, Expands Cross-Border Investment Access

    [London, April 2025]

AI-powered fund platform OpenSTAR today announced the successful signing of distribution agreements with ten of the world’s leading private fund management groups. Covering equity, fixed income, multi-strategy, and structured products, this milestone marks the official establishment of OpenSTAR’s global private fund access channel, offering investors in the UK and beyond a significantly broader range of cross-border investment opportunities.

All ten fund houses are globally recognised asset managers, each regulated by their respective national financial authorities and with long-standing track records in international investment. The partners include:

    BlackRock

    J.P. Morgan Asset Management

    Virtus Investment Partners

    1. Rowe Price

    Morgan Stanley

    Invesco

    Schroders

    BNP Paribas Asset Management

    Franklin Templeton

    Merrill Lynch

These products will be rolled out in phases on the OpenSTAR platform and span a wide range of strategies, including actively managed equity funds, bond portfolios, macro multi-strategy funds, AI quantitative models, and senior-junior structured private funds — forming a diversified offering based on style complementarity, risk layering, and regional balance.

“This represents a major step forward in strengthening the fund architecture of our platform and reflects the market’s trust in OpenSTAR’s intelligent systems and risk management capabilities,”

said the Head of Fund Operations at OpenSTAR.

“By partnering with the world’s most influential fund managers, we aim to give UK investors access to global opportunities that were previously out of reach.”

Several of the products will be included in OpenSTAR’s flagship “Structured Access Channel”, where OpenSTAR provides internal subordinated capital to absorb underlying risks, enabling priority investors — particularly those with moderate capital — to participate in premium strategies with enhanced downside protection.

OpenSTAR has confirmed its plan to establish a UK subsidiary by the end of 2025, operating under the regulatory framework of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The company will also adapt product offerings to local market requirements, ensuring more compliant, intelligent, and inclusive access to high-quality fund products for UK-based investors.

OpenSTAR Launches UK Fund Market Strategy, Aims to Establish Local Subsidiary by End of 2025

    [London, 4 April 2025]

OpenSTAR, an AI-driven fund platform under Merrill Lynch International, has officially announced the full-scale launch of its private fund market strategy in the United Kingdom. The company plans to establish a locally registered subsidiary by the end of 2025 — a pivotal move in its broader global expansion strategy.

Originally founded as an innovative fintech firm focused on AI trading systems, OpenSTAR was formally integrated into Merrill Lynch International in 2024 and has since become a key platform for AI-powered fund trading within the group. Its entry into the UK market marks a significant step towards combining cutting-edge AI investment engines with private fund management expertise, aiming to offer UK investors asset allocation solutions with greater transparency, stability, and risk control.

“The UK is one of the most mature, well-regulated, and investor-savvy private fund markets in Europe,”

said OpenSTAR’s Global Market Director in a recent interview.

“We’ve chosen the UK as our first point of entry into the European market not only for strategic reasons, but also as a testament to our confidence in its long-term potential.”

According to the roadmap, OpenSTAR will establish its local operations team in London by Q2 2025, focusing on the needs of investors in UK and US equity secondary markets. The company also plans to introduce innovative solutions such as AI-assisted active management strategies and structured fund products with tiered tranches (senior-junior structures). Registration of its FCA-regulated subsidiary is expected to be completed by year-end.

OpenSTAR also confirmed that its proprietary AI trading engine will remain an independent module, continuing to provide strategic support for global asset managers and independent financial advisers. The company further revealed that it has already received partnership interest from fund managers across multiple European countries.

As a new-generation private fund platform blending technology with asset management, OpenSTAR’s expansion into the UK represents not only the convergence of advanced tech and traditional capital, but also a meaningful step towards delivering inclusive finance in the global fund industry.
